De StingRay werd voor het eerst geïntroduceerd in 1976 en is vereerd als een van de meest iconische basgitaren in de geschiedenis. De StingRay was de eerste productiebas van vier snaren met actieve equalization aan boord. Het vlaggenschip van de Music Man lijn, de StingRay van vandaag, is hetzelfde als zo'n veertig jaar geleden, met een solide roadworthy constructie, elegante ovale slagplaat, 3 + 1 tuning keyconfiguratie en de immer populaire Music Man humbucker. Alles bij elkaar produceren een uiterlijk, gevoel en geluid dat opmerkelijk onmiskenbaar is.

De sculpted neck joint biedt ongeremde toegang tot alle 22 roestvrijstalen frets bovenop geroosterde esdoorn necks.
De verbeterde body contouren zijn afgerond voor meer comfort in elke speelpositie, met behoud van de iconische StingRay sound.
De nieuwe en verbeterde StingRay electronics heeft krachtige magneten van neodymium, waardoor u meer output en een bredere range aan geluiden krijgt
Met een nieuw ontworpen 18-volt 3-band preamp, voor extra cleane headroom, ben je tot alles in staat, van moderne punch tot klassieke, vintage tonen.
De algemene gewichtsvermindering van de nieuwe Stingray Special is een zeer geapprecieerd kenmerk. Selecte body houtsoorten, verbeterde contouren en lichtgewicht hardware zorgen voor een betere algehele balans voor extra comfort en een aangenamere speelervaring.
Opnieuw ontworpen lichtgewicht stemapparaten zorgen voor een meer gebalanceerde nek en bieden toch een uiterst betrouwbare afstemmingsstabiliteit.
