De JP12 is een combinatie van het beste van eerdere signature John Petrucci instrumenten zoals DiMarzio CrunchLab en Liquifire pickups, met piëzo uitgeruste tremolo en stereo output. De mahonie JP12 hals is gestroomlijnd naar een symmetrisch, extra slank profiel met een ultraplatte 20 "radius ebben fretboard. Dit in combinatie met de non-chambered body, mahonie Tone Block en maple top maakt de JP12 een krachtig en progressief instrument.
