De JP16 is een combinatie van het originele Music Man John Petrucci signature model en de latere Ball Family Reserve modellen. Hoogtepunten zijn onder meer een licht basswood body met hoogglans Black Lava afwerking en een nieuw Floyd Rose 1000 Pro Floating Tremolo systeem. De JP16 beschikt ook over de originele afgeronde onderarmcontour die vele uren speelcomfort biedt. Het eerste fret JP16 logo, roestvrijstalen frets en een smokey ebbenhouten fretboard zijn standaardopties op de ultradunne en fast figured / roasted maple hals. Een paar DiMarzio Sonic Ecstasy humbuckers en 20+ dB gain boost push / push volumepot zorgen voor een zinderende klank in de JP16.
